What do you get when you cross dreampop with a hint of shoegaze ? Constant Smiles thats what..
Massachusetts based group Constant Smiles have been creating albums of foggy psychedelic haze for some time, but never seemed to cross the ocean, until now.
We have been given the rare privilage to release this collection of tracks lifted from a number of said albums just for you.
BBR presents a compilation of prime lo/no-fi dreampop that veers into spacerock/shoegaze/lo-folk and back again with a hazy ease; from the mournful ebow that glides through opening track 'Out On Radar', the tape loop stammering intro to shimmering stoner track 'Psychic Jenny', the ghostly pop joy of 'Save This House', the hypnotic riffing,backwards percussion & blissed dronepop head nodding of closing track 'Recoils' to the absolutely stunning harmonising duel violins of Americana tinged waltz 'Emma#3', a standout slice of heaven for sure, this Ep starts with the muffled warped hiss of tape before the tracks spring to life in a mist of echo and reverb.
Ive been a fan of Constant Smiles for some time, so these hand picked tracks have been tried and tested on my ears fo along time, so I finally got the courage to ask if this EP could happen...and here it is....and if you want more there's extra tracks in the downloads, tracks that could have been on this record.
I could't leave them out.
This EP really is a piece of beauty....dark, haunting, mystical and psychedelic.
